PCR brings artists and resilience stakeholders into conversation to learn from one another and begin to develop methodologies for realising resilience practices that emerge from, make use of and integrate with the cultural practices of a city. We bring theories of performance to understand practices of resilience in cities across a range of artistic, cultural and ‘everyday’ practices. For us performance can be aesthetic and/or social practice, one that might just as easily take place in a theatre space as in the situation room of a disaster planning organisation. The intention of the project is to provide a means by which city officials and resilience professionals can discover the possibilities of leveraging arts thinking and practice as a means of developing resilience strategy/practice. At the same time, our work helps artists and arts organisations recognise and build on the ways their work contributes actively to the resilience thinking in a city, without compromising their practice.
